Born in Los Angeles, but raised in Holland, Singapore, Northern California – with long stays in Belgrade, Serbia and Paris, France – Gala Goliani is an American European award-winning director, specializing in quality author-driven films that have commercial as well as international appeal.

Holder of the French Lycée baccalaureate, she graduated with an MFA from the American Film Institute’s directing program. Gala supplemented her studies with a broad range of practical experience on several feature films and television series.
Gala has also produced and directed for broadcast content for networks such as Pink TV, RTS1, CBS, and Canal +, and has written, directed, and produced over a dozen radio dramas and a series for international broadcast. She is perfectly fluent in English, French, and Serbian.

Gala’s body of work is inspired by real-life psychosocial issues across various cutlures that shape our emotional landscape, striving to present an authentic portrayal of the human experience that shape our choices. She has a genuine interest in exploring intellectually compelling stories that deal with complex human behavior, the search for meaning, hidden desires, and the darker side of the human psyche. With her strong visual style that marries the delicate with the provocative, she is fond of exploring edgier themes revolving around distress, love, sexuality, identity, and awareness of ourselves as well as our surroundings. While delivering a thought-provoking yet captivating story, Gala aims to craft strong characters whilst exploring audiovisual mood and tone in a unique way.

Writer and director of over 10 narrative shorts, Gala’s work has been presented and awarded at over 100 international film festivals, museums, theaters, universities, and television. Whilst in-development for several feature-length scripts and a TV pilot, Gala, under Ninochka Films, is currently in pre-production for two documentaries and has founded the first-ever auteur genre film festival in Porto Montenegro – Montenegro International Fantastic Film Festival ( MONTIFFF ) –, that is in partnership with Etheria Film Nights that showcases the best new horror, science fiction, fantasy, action, and thriller films made by female directors from all over the world.

Gala Goliani divides her time between Los Angeles and Europe.
